A sea of blossoms in the Allgäu spring by Walter G. Allgöwer

A touch of eternity in the Dietersbach Valley
Like a colourful tapestry, masterfully woven by nature, the spring meadow stretches across the slopes of Gerstruben. In the heart of the Allgäu Alps, time seems to stand still for a moment. Yellow buttercups compete with the sun to shine brightest, whilst delicate violet blossoms add deep splashes of colour to the vibrant green. In between, the delicate umbels of dandelions dance in the balmy May breeze – ready to send their dreams out into the world.
An old wooden house stands silent and majestic above this colourful sea of flowers. Its sun-weathered beams tell tales of centuries past, when the former mountain farming village was still tended by busy hands. It blends so perfectly into the Bavarian idyll that it seems to have grown directly from the rocky ground.
In the background rise the majestic, wooded slopes of Oberstdorf, whose rich dark green forms a gentle contrast to the youthful freshness of the meadow. Here, where the air tastes of freedom and wild herbs, everyday life fades away amid the humming of the bees. It is a peaceful poem of colours, light and living tradition – an unforgettable moment of alpine poetry in the heart of Europe.
