A quiet waterfall amongst the rocks of the Reichenbach Gorge by ManfredFotos

A small waterfall flows between massive boulders into a dark, still pool in the Reichenbach Gorge near Pfronten. The gentle movement of the water provides a bright contrast against the massive grey rock formations and lends the understated composition an almost meditative quality. The large boulder on the left-hand side, in particular, dominates the scene: its jagged surface is struck by incoming light in places, whilst other areas lie deep in shadow. On the right, the water emerges from a narrow opening between the rocks and then spreads gently across the pool. In the foreground, light-coloured stones and muted shades of green and yellow shimmer beneath the water’s surface. The overall darker tone clearly sets this photograph apart from the brighter views in the series and conveys a sense of coolness, tranquillity and seclusion. As a wall hanging, the landscape format creates a calm, atmospheric effect and harmonises particularly well with natural wood, stone, and shades of grey and earth tones. For walkers, nature lovers and enthusiasts of the Allgäu region, this image serves as an evocative reminder of the hidden aquatic worlds of the Reichenbach Gorge near Pfronten.
