About the artwork
A giant onion flower between the newspaper pages's, and literally. Although flowers, especially those you bought at the market, often used to be rolled in a newspaper. For protection and just as packaging. The big onion flowers here are also really big, at least 10 centimetres or so in diameter. The big flowers are actually made up of all the little flowers, in short an impressive flower to see. The newspaper is found here in two places. At the bottom in the foreground, a piece of newspaper is visible and placed as if the front large flower is actually going to be wrapped in it. At the top behind the large onion flower, a piece of newspaper can also be seen, again as if the flower is going to be wrapped in it. The newspapers are transparent here though so the depth is not lost. The colours of this still life with imposing flowers is fuchsia the original colour of the flower and beige the colour of the newspaper. A colourful work with beautiful light that will undoubtedly do well on the wall in the living room, for example.
