Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.

About ‘A dinghy bobs in the evening sun’ by Geert Van Baelen

A small sloop bobs gently on the waves, just off the coast. The little boat seems almost weightless on the rippling water, creating a simple yet powerful image of tranquillity, freedom and the allure of the sea. In the background, the beach stretches out along the horizon, whilst the waves remain in constant motion. The combination of water, sky, sand and the solitary boat creates a timeless maritime atmosphere.

The photograph exudes the characteristic tranquillity of a coastal landscape. The bobbing little boat becomes a subtle focal point in a sweeping setting, in which the natural movement of the sea and the rhythm of the waves are particularly well showcased. The image can therefore evoke a range of feelings: from holidays and relaxation to a longing for freedom and distant horizons.

I took this atmospheric coastal photograph in Petten, a characteristic coastal village in the Dutch province of North Holland. Petten lies directly on the North Sea and is known for its wide beach, dunes and open coastal landscape. It is precisely this combination that makes the area particularly attractive for landscape and nature photography.

The sloop at sea fits perfectly into a collection of maritime photography, beach photographs and minimalist coastal images. The tranquil composition and the natural interplay of colours make the photograph ideal as wall art for anyone who loves the sea, Dutch landscapes and serene photography. An image that not only shows a slice of the Dutch coast, but above all brings the silence and vastness of the North Sea to life.
