A decorated alley in Donauwörth’s old town, bathed in spring light

by ManfredFotos

A quiet alleyway in Donauwörth’s old town is transformed into a particularly charming urban scene by historic façades and colourful street decorations. Pastel-coloured houses in shades of pink, green and light natural tones line the way, whilst several rows of decorative ornaments stretch across the street. It is precisely these small elements that lend the photograph its distinctive air of lightness: the eye wanders from the façades, over the decorative bands, to the red tiled roofs and the blue sky. Different window shapes, gables and arcades tell the story of an urban architecture that has evolved over a long period of time. The almost deserted street creates a sense of tranquillity, allowing the viewer to imagine strolling through the old town themselves. Despite the fresh shades of blue and green, the warm facades and roofs lend the image a friendly, cosy feel. As a wall hanging, the photograph brings colour and southern German charm into the room without appearing overpowering. It complements light-coloured interiors and natural materials particularly well. For city lovers, travellers and enthusiasts of historic architecture, this motif may evoke memories of leisurely explorations through Donauwörth and other towns along the Romantic Road.
