A cosy, intimate and loving moment between two friends by Studio Pieternel

● Exclusive design for Werk aan de Muur / Art Heroes

This atmospheric and emotive piece depicts two women drawing closer to one another in an intimate, almost magical moment. The faces are rendered with rich brushstrokes and a tactile texture, in which shades of golden yellow, pink and warm bronze blend beautifully. The dynamic interplay between the flowing hair and the dreamy, turquoise-blue background lends the whole piece a poetic and fluid dynamism. Subtle effects of light and shadow emphasise the profiles of both figures and create a warm, cosy atmosphere.

Art Form and Style
This work falls within the realm of modern, expressive figurative painting. It is characterised by a strong impasto texture and painterly layering, with the contrast between the cool blue tones in the background and the warm gold and pink tones in the foreground taking centre stage.
