About the artwork

A Tower of Fire

Under the skies of spring,
where the dew slowly settles on the branches,
the trees lie in their final sleep.
Fallen giants, stacked like a monument
in honour of silence.
Their annual rings tell stories
of sun-drenched summers and icy winters.
Grown, shaped and now,
like a tower of gold, they wait
for the fire that will reveal their essence.
This is the final vision of Torrentius:
the ultimate transformation,
death heralding the birth of new life.
A blaze of silence and beauty,
the essence of the cycle of life.

What Torrentius means

In "A Tower of Fire" Torrentius shows the inevitable cycle of nature. The stacked tree trunks are not just wood; they are the remains of mighty trees that, in their stacked form, seem to form a tower. This tower symbolises the transience of life and the beauty of decay.
The annual rings in the wood tell of the history of each tree. The tree trunks, despite their death, are still filled with stories about the seasons and the lives they have led. The pile of wood is a monument, a tribute to nature and its tireless transformation. The "fire" in the title and poem symbolises ultimate change. It is not just destruction, but the birth of something new. The wooden tower awaits its transformation, inviting the viewer to reflect on life, death, and what comes after.
Torrentius' work raises the question of whether nature is a cycle of eternal rebirth, or of a continuous transformation in which nothing ever really disappears, but only changes form.
