The digital artwork *"Rietveld, Opaalweg"* is a Mondrian-like composition that abstractly depicts a design by Gerrit Rietveld. The image is made up of clean, rectangular areas of colour, with an emphasis on white, blue and grey, framed by bright white frames that give the work a geometric and rhythmic structure. To the left of the picture is a piece of wall with a white sign showing house numbers, a subtle reference to human presence without actually depicting it. Below it, an unusual road sign draws attention: a stylised bird and an outstretched hand symbolise a prohibition, the precise meaning of which invites interpretation.

At the centre of the composition is a gap that functions as a connecting element between wall and door. This section contains letterboxes and nameplates, again referring to an inhabited place, but in line with the abstract formal language, these elements too are stylised and tightly integrated into the whole. On the right, a fragment of a door is visible, composed of different shades of blue that exude depth and coolness.

The Mondrian style is reflected in the use of primary colours (mainly blue and white), straight lines and a seemingly simple tessellation that on closer inspection turns out to be complex. The work exudes the spirit of modernism, with a subtle nod to everyday life. It raises questions about functionality, aesthetics and the way architecture and art intersect.
