About the artwork

The Pontiac GTO from 1970 with its 356 bhp from 6.5 litres of displacement (with RamAir IV and 7.5 litres of displacement even 370 bhp) is a legendary car that made a significant contribution to the era of muscle cars in the USA. Its genesis is characterised by innovation, performance and the pursuit of vehicles that fulfil the imagination and desire for speed of Americans.

In the late 1960s, particularly in 1970, the automotive industry in the USA experienced a boom in muscular, powerful cars that became known as muscle cars. Pontiac, a General Motors brand, played a key role in this era and produced some of the most desirable models, including the GTO.

The 1970 Pontiac GTO was the result of continuous development and improvement of previous models. It was characterised by its striking styling, powerful performance and impressive driving experience. With a wide range of engine options, including powerful V8 engines, the GTO was able to offer tremendous acceleration and speed that thrilled drivers. The entry-level hardtop cost 3267 USD, the convertible 3492 USD.

The design of the 1970 GTO was characterised by striking lines, aggressive contours and a muscular appearance. The characteristic air intakes, powerful radiator grille and iconic shape made it an instantly recognisable symbol of the muscle car era.

Today, the 1970 Pontiac GTO is a coveted collector's item and a symbol of the golden era of American muscle cars. Its history and heritage live on in the hearts of many classic car enthusiasts and continue to shape automotive culture worldwide.
