"Musketon under construction" is a digital artwork that captures the energy and character of the Lunetten neighbourhood in Utrecht in a special way. The starting point was a sober black-and-white photograph of the community centre, showing the rough contours and atmosphere of a construction phase. The artist transformed this original image into a lively and colourful scene, in which past and future meet.
The sky has been transformed into a radiant, almost summery blue, giving the sculpture an open and hopeful look. In the foreground, a robust concrete floor gleams in bright Utrecht red - a nod to the city's colours and local character. This striking choice of colour not only emphasises community pride, but also brings a sense of dynamism and renewal.
Details such as shadows, lines and textures have been carefully crafted to preserve the original raw material of the construction phase, while colour applications breathe new life into the whole. The combination of the old and the new, the black and white and the use of colour, symbolises the continuous development of Lunetten: a neighbourhood that is proud of its history but remains in full swing.
"Musketon under construction" is thus not just a registration of a moment, but a visual ode to growth, togetherness and imagination.
