The digital artwork "Still life with lemon and water glass" is an intriguing and surrealistic interpretation of the classic still life. At first glance, the scene looks familiar: a simple blue table, a glass of clear water and a lemon. But on closer inspection, an impossible scene unfolds. The water glass, filled to the brim, is tilted at the edge of the table and seems to be about to fall at any moment. Yet it miraculously remains in place, held back by a thin string tied around the glass. On the other side of the string dangles a lemon, whose weight seems to keep the glass balanced.
The play on gravity and logic raises questions for the viewer: how can a lemon, lighter than a filled glass, really hold back this object? The tension between movement and stillness, threat and salvation, is palpable in the subtle shadows and the play of light on the glass and lemon. The background is minimalist, with a soft, neutral hue that directs all attention to the central scene.
The work invites reflection on balance, control and the fragile balances in life. At the same time, it plays with the tradition of still lifes by stretching the boundaries of what is possible. Combining classical aesthetics with a contemporary, conceptual twist, this digital artwork leaves the viewer with a sense of wonder and slight dislocation.
