The Pieterskerk is one of the oldest churches in the Dutch city of Utrecht. Construction began in 1039 and on 1 May 1048, the Pieterskerk was consecrated by Bishop Bernold, although the - no longer existing - west towers were probably only completed a century later.
A columbarium is set up in the Crypt of the Pieterskerk. An urn or ash container can be placed there for a period of 20 years. Each year, on the first Sunday in November at 16.00, a gathering is held for next of kin and other interested parties. This meeting takes place in the church hall and afterwards a candle can be lit in the crypt.
