I am a painter based in The Hague with a background in classical painting. During my training I learnt traditional techniques, but I soon developed a loose, impressionistic style that leaves room for spontaneity and expression. My work revolves around human connection, exploring themes of identity, vulnerability and anonymity through portraits.
Besides portraits, I also paint expressive landscapes, in which I try to capture the mood and emotion of a moment with dynamic brushstrokes and an intuitive use of colour. Whether it is a personal view or a vast landscape, my paintings are a search for the layering of experience and the interaction between people and their surroundings.
