My name is Patrick Teeling, I am 36 years old and live in the Meppel area. My passion for photography started three years ago, after the birth of my son. What started as a way to capture special moments soon grew into a deep love for image and composition. The camera opened a new world for me in which I could express my vision, passion and unique view of the world.
My style
As you may have noticed, I have a great fondness for black-and-white photography. Colours can sometimes distract and rob a photo of its power. Black and white, on the other hand, can enhance emotions, accentuate details and create a timeless atmosphere. Yet I realise that not every subject lends itself to this style. Therefore, I occasionally experiment with colour to find the right balance. Photographers often strive to simplify a scene and reduce it to its essence. Sometimes that essence is best expressed in shades of grey.
Ansel Adams articulated this perfectly:
"I can achieve a deeper sense of 'colour' with a well thought out and executed black-and-white photograph than I have ever been able to achieve with colour photography."
