My name is Marcel de Jonge. I was born and raised in Groningen, but at the age of seventeen I left the north for the Rotterdam region. More than thirty years later, life brought me back to the city where my heart has always remained. A special reunion with my childhood sweetheart brought me home again — and at the same time I also rediscovered my other great love: photography.
In recent years, I have immersed myself in the profession. Through training, workshops and courses, I have further developed my technical knowledge and creative vision. My focus is on landscapes and urban environments: places where light, form and atmosphere come together. I am always looking for that one composition that is not only beautiful, but also tells a tangible story.
I consciously use colour and black and white, depending on the story that the image requires. I also enjoy photographing people and events, trying to capture the essence of the moment — the energy, the emotion, the authenticity. With my work, I want to convey peace, strength and wonder. Images that linger because they touch something inside you.
