Bert-Jan de Wagenaar (1974), photographer, graphic designer, artist, musician.
In the 1990s he studied for a number of years at the art and graphics academy. There he was taught the craft of (then still analogue) photography and graphic design. In the end, he decided on a career in music and the camera and felt-tip pens disappeared into the closet.
In the end it seems that blood is thicker than water and he has taken up the camera and pens again.
With his knowledge of working with an analogue camera and developing photographs in the darkroom, he turned out to have laid a very broad foundation for being able to make good use of the current digital means. He specializes in portraits and cityscapes (urban photography), but he is not afraid to make excursions into other genres.
With his fine eye for composition and light he always manages to come up with surprising images. Because of his experience in the (analogue) darkroom, he is able to give his pictures a professional, powerful treatment from a traditional basis.
As a graphic designer Bert-Jan is mainly concerned with colour and surface division, something he does very well because of his natural eye for proportions.
Bert-Jan's style is often described as expressive and dramatic. Impact guaranteed!
