Jigal Schrijver is a versatile contemporary artist from Amsterdam, active since 2014 without formal art training. He creates powerful, colourful artworks that combine painting, mixed media and sculptural elements to create his own visual language. His work is characterised by strong concepts, a playful relationship between material and colour as well as a striking use of recycled and found materials such as wood, inner tubes, garden hoses and other recycled objects.
In his free and intuitive creative process, Jigal lets form and material speak to each other. He likes to experiment outside traditional art boundaries, transforming everyday and recycled elements into expressive compositions that challenge and surprise. His work exudes authenticity, energy and a strong identity of its own.
Jigal's works have been shown at various exhibitions and projects in Amsterdam, including solo and group presentations in gallery environments such as The Art Chapel and exhibitions in cultural cafes and bars.
Besides his artistic excesses, Jigal is Managing Director of Het Agentschap, where he supports creative professionals in shaping their careers, underlining his broad interest in concept, presentation and communication.
