Hi, I'm Ilona!
I live and work in Rotterdam, am married to Jarno and we have two sons, Kian and Aidan.
I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. Because of this, I knew at a young age that I wanted to go to art school. In 2007, this dream came true when I was admitted to the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and completed my graphic design studies in 2011. After working as a permanent graphic designer for several years, I made the step to continue as an independent designer and artist in 2015. With great pleasure, I created a wide variety of designs for small and medium-sized companies and was able to develop my painting style in the meantime. Since 2022, I have stopped graphic design and focus entirely on art!
I prefer to paint with acrylic paint, as it best suits my semi-abstract painting style. My work is characterised by striking colour combinations and organic shapes. Nature plays a big role in my work, because I find it fascinating and inspiring how it constantly changes in colour and shape. With my work, I hope to evoke beautiful memories, feelings or dreams in others.
