Puffins on Runde
This collection consists of photographs of Atlantic puffins on Runde, a rugged bird island on the Norwegian coast. Since my biology teacher training, I have become increasingly fascinated by birds, and Runde was one of the places I truly wanted to visit. We travelled to Norway especially to see the puffins. To reach them, we had to climb a very steep mountain trail towards the bird cliffs. During the day, we saw almost nothing, but in the evening everything changed. Suddenly, thousands of puffins appeared between the grass, on the rocks and above the hillside. This series captures that moment: small black-and-white birds with colourful beaks in a vast, green and rugged landscape. Some images are calm and almost still, while others show movement or small groups of birds. For me, this collection is about birdwatching, family and an evening in Norway I will never forget.
