Minimal art or minimalism is a visual art movement that first manifested itself in the United States and was introduced to Europe from there in the 1960s. Minimal art uses simple, possibly found materials. It is important to enter into a relationship with the environment using the simplest possible means. The tension that arises from creating a contrast with the environment is important in this respect.
