Colmar is the Venice of the North on canvas, poster, wallpaper and ArtFrame by Jan Radstake

The area where the city is located already played a role in Roman times. In 58 BC, Julius Caesar defeated the Germanic tribe Ariovistus here. The city of Colmar was founded in the ninth century and received city rights in the year 1360. Several monastic orders settled in the city. The city itself is called the Venice of the North because of the canals that run through the city. Tourists can cruise the city's canals in the same kind of gondolas we see in Venice. The colorful half-timbered houses and the beautiful flowers that are scattered throughout the city make Colmar a feast for the eyes. It is wonderful to walk through Colmar and settle down on one of the many terraces that the place has. Colmar is a true paradise for photographers. The many brightly colored buildings are particularly photogenic and make it a real pleasure for people with a passion for photography to roam through the place.
