Kawasaki Motorcycles on canvas, poster, wallpaper and ArtFrame by Jan Radstake

In 1949, Kawasaki's aircraft division was looking for civilian contracts. The factory put its energy into manufacturing motorcycles and that year launched its first motorcycle. The first two-wheeler from the Japanese factory was a 154 cc OHV. From 1954, Kawasaki made 58 cc two-stroke blocks and delivered this to Meihatsu, a historic motorcycle brand. In 1962 Kawasaki took over Meihatsu and in 1964 the historic Meguro brand was taken over. From that moment on, Kawasaki belonged to the major Japanese motorcycle brands. Legendary models such as the Z900 and later the Z1000 soon followed.
