About the artwork

The golden oriole (Oriolus oriolus) is a striking songbird best known for its bright yellow plumage and melodious song. This shy bird is rarely seen in the Netherlands and Belgium, but all the better to hear. The male has a bright yellow colour with black wings and tail, while the female is somewhat greener in hue, making her less conspicuous in the foliage.

Orioles breed mainly in deciduous forests, parks and large gardens with tall trees. They are summer visitors: they stay in Europe from late April to August, then migrate to tropical Africa to spend the winter. Their call sounds like a whistling "djula-djulee", a sound often described as exotic and distant-sounding.

Despite their bright colours, orioles are difficult to spot. They keep themselves high in the trees and usually remain well hidden. Due to their preference for old deciduous forest and changes in the landscape, such as deforestation and urbanisation, their numbers have declined in some areas.

The golden oriole is a special sight that adds to the magic of a summer morning in the forest. Those lucky enough to see or hear one are experiencing a rare moment in nature.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
