marginalised, truncated
introverted, totally broken
I stand defeated by the side
dejectedly holding on a little longer
and unwillingly'g undergo my fate
in strange circumstances
I am already three-quarters dead
steely by mould threads
eroded by beetle maggots
I have fought myself empty
my bark has covered it up for too long
The void has been partly filled
with this or that wild plant
The marks on the wall
are now finally revealed

I find pollard willows intriguing trees. The epitome of how people have used nature for centuries. Unfortunately, they are disappearing more and more because the use is no longer profitable. They are disappearing from the polder landscape because they really only get in the way. But one pollard willow is a biotope in itself. Many different animals and plants live in and on old pollard willows. I count myself lucky that along the fortified moat close to my house there is still a whole row in various stages of decay. In the case of one such tree, both the inside and outside have largely disappeared. As a result, different shapes and figures can be seen inside the tree. Using a wide-angle lens, I took this intriguing photo.
