A view through old spaces that were once used as offices. The offices are located on the upper gallery of the Central Market Hall in Amsterdam at the Jan van Galenstraat.
In 1934, this building was opened under the name Central Market. The market was not open to the public. It was intended as a wholesale market, where shops and market vendors get their goods. It was built in the style of Business Expressionism. In the Central Market Hall, form, function and beauty come together: the efficient design is combined with beautiful proportions in symmetry, uniformity, rhythm and repetition. For that time modern materials such as precast concrete and HD Metal (Steel) are combined with traditional brickwork and traditional design.
