As a photographer, you are always looking for what attracts you in a picture. For me, it was soon clear that the activity in and around the port caught my full attention. The IJmuiden harbour, where many of my images are created, has countless possibilities. Bollards, fishing nets, in fact anything I can find on and at the quay, has the potential for a suitable photograph.
So does this image. Bollards always give me a sense of security and steadiness Many of my photographs consist of elements that are part of a whole. The bollard in this photo is an important part of the harbour. Every ship relies on these steel columns. In the background, the ship taking advantage of this steadiness before heading out to sea again. Using the evening as a backdrop, combined with some fog, gives this photo something mysterious.
Images ( and thus also this one) are perfect for an abstract interior. Think, for example, of an office space, reception area or living room with an abstract design.
