A sight to behold! A chain of partridges sits resting in a snow-covered field. Only a few field plants give the troop a little cover. Partridges were common almost everywhere until a few decades ago. Nowadays they are rarely seen. To be able to observe a troop of this size is like winning the lottery. Habitat destruction and a shortage of food, especially for the young, make it difficult for the small partridges to survive.
The picture is therefore appealing because of the rare motif alone, but it is also convincing because of its clear, natural colours, high sharpness of detail and successful composition.
