Honfleur is a town in the Calvados department in north-western France. It is located on the south bank of the mouth of the Seine opposite Le Havre and very close to the Pont de Normandie. The inhabitants are called Honfleurais.
The first written mention of Honfleur is in 1027, in a reference from Richard III, Duke of Normandy. By the mid-12th century, the city was an important transit point for goods from Rouen to England.
