Zwolle downtown district aerial view at the Sassenpoort during a a nice fall day. Seen from above we can see the luscioius fall foliage on the trees with various historical buildings in the background. The Sassenpoort was built in the early 1400s as part of the city's fortifications. It served both defensive and symbolic purposes, as it was a symbol of the city's wealth and power.The gate is named after the Sassenstraat, a street that leads from the gate into the city center.
