Nature is waking up and so are the flowers of the Yellow Dogwood. They are not yet open here, yet you can already see a little of the fruit.
This shrub blooms even before leaves have formed. Many flowers come in clusters on the branch and when they open, they form beautiful flower clusters. At this stage, you tend to have little appreciation for it, but as spring progresses and summer sets in, a lush shrub full of red berries, which are edible, emerges.
In short, a shrub that shows its development right from winter, going from flowery to fruiting. All this is accompanied by beautiful colours. In a garden in Bocholt, Belgium, I photographed this shrub in mid-March.
As I often do, I also included an insect in the photo here. In this case, a very fragile spider, which connected its web to the twigs of the shrub.
