The artwork shows the world clock at Alexanderplatz with the Berlin television tower in the background - taken on a clear summer's day. The scene is depicted in colour: The blue sky with light clouds forms a vivid contrast to the metallic surface of the clock and the light-coloured structure of the television tower. The colours are kept natural and underline the summer atmosphere without exaggeration.
The idea for this picture arose from the desire to show two central Berlin landmarks in their everyday yet highly symbolic interplay. The world clock stands for global orientation, the television tower for urban identity and technical modernity. I was particularly interested in how these two elements could be united in an image that works both documentarily and creatively.
The aim was to create an open, urban atmosphere - a moment between movement and standstill, between past and present. The picture invites us to reflect on time, place and belonging.
In interior design, this work acts as a culturally charged eye-catcher. It fits well in modern living or working spaces with an urban reference and brings a piece of Berlin's past and present into the room - visually clear, atmospherically dense and versatile in combination.
