When out walking, here in Italy, I came across this patch of fungi growing in the shade in the woods. The contrast between the white of the fungi and the red and orange colours of the autumn leaves was striking. I have no idea if these were edible. Here in rural Italy it is customary to search for wild mushrooms for the cooking pot - but many families each year get poisoned as they make the wrong choices about what is edible and what not. In fact the pharmacists here offer a service of checking wild fungi to make sure it is in fact edible and not poisonous! Photo art.
