Woman with blue butterfly | Dreamy portrait in blue and green

by Lauren Wilde

This work depicts an intimate and tranquil moment. A woman, half lost in thought, with her eyes closed and a gentle posture. The blue butterfly on her face immediately draws attention and forms the heart of the image. The colour blue recurs throughout: in the butterfly, in her clothing and in the background. Together with the deep green tones and warm skin colours, this creates a calm, almost dreamlike atmosphere.

For me, the butterfly symbolises vulnerability and change. It seems light and fragile, but at the same time has a powerful presence. The way it partially covers the face makes the portrait modest and mysterious. It is as if the woman is turning inward for a moment, detached from the outside world. Her posture and soft facial expression reinforce that feeling of silence and introspection.

The brushstrokes are visible and give the work a painterly character. Nothing is sleek or perfect, and that is precisely what makes it human. The combination of cool blues and greens with warm tones in the skin and hair creates balance and depth. Depending on the light, the appearance changes subtly, keeping the work fascinating.

This portrait fits well in a calm interior and appeals to people who love emotional, symbolic art. It is a work that does not scream, but invites you to look longer and let your own feelings arise.
