For a painting inspired by Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, I chose two colours that fit well with the melancholic, dreamy and reflective mood of the song.
Soft blue (misty blue) - This symbolises distance, melancholy and a sense of emptiness, as well as serenity and dreaminess.
Rusty orange - This warm colour adds a nostalgic and earthy element, highlighting the contrast between the cold emptiness and warmth of longing.
Together, these colours create a beautiful contrast between the emotional distance (blue) and the longing for connection and memory (orange), perfectly reflecting the essence of the song.
My work is best described as ‘Mash-up Pop Art’. It’s all about bringing worlds together in one new fresh context. Just like musical mashups but in my case much broader. An old comic together with a line from a movie, an advertising image from the eighties together with lyrics.. Read more…
