Wine glasses – the wabi-sabi of wine by AidasignArt

This elegant piece from the ‘Moments of Wine’ series distils the sensual world of wine into a modern composition that blends movement, pleasure and understated elegance. Two stylised wine glasses form the tranquil framework of the composition. Between them, in the foreground, stands a wine bottle with its cork visible; its ruby-red contents do not appear static, but seem to be in a lively, flowing motion.

Within the wine glasses, too, the wine is rendered through dynamic, impasto-like forms as the expression of a fleeting moment. The movement of the wine connects the bottle and the glasses, making the entire composition appear almost alive – as if a special moment of pouring, toasting and savouring had just been frozen in time.

The understated contours of the glasses and the bottle are rendered in warm beige and natural tones, echoing the harmonious colour palette of Japandi. Patches of colour in sand, taupe, warm grey-beige and subtle olive tones create a tranquil, balanced visual space. The wine’s intense ruby red adds a sensual accent to this scene.

The powerful impasto textures lend the surface a three-dimensional depth and emphasise the handcrafted character of the painting. In its simplicity, the composition is reminiscent of both Zen and wabi-sabi – the beauty of the moment, transience and a conscious focus on the essential.

‘Moments of Wine’ tells of pleasure, encounters and memories which – like a fine wine – gain depth with time.
