A beautiful day in Middelburg, Zeeland. Just before sunset really set in, we arrived at Molen de Hoop on the edge of the city centre. Because of the low sun, the building was reflected brilliantly in the mirror-smooth water.
On the Vlissings Bolwerk in Middelburg, you view this corn and flour mill De Hoop, from a distance. After all, you cannot visit it. Originally, the mill was built in 1753 as a hulling mill. After a fire in 1753, the mill was restored as a corn and peel mill in the following two years. During World War II, the mill was again badly damaged. Restorations were carried out in 1954 and 1988 and the mill was able to turn again. This is done regularly by volunteers.
This picture was the icing on the cake of the lovely day trip to Middelburg. We had not really prepared for this trip, except that we definitely wanted to do a canal cruise. So our party was surprised by the (unexpected for us) fairground and the food caravan. At the Seismolen, food trucks and stalls offered very diverse food.
