About ‘Wild buffalo in Hayden Valley in Yellowstone National Park’ by Thomas Zacharias
Revered by the indigenous peoples, the buffalo were almost wiped out by white settlers from the middle of the 19th century. A single herd of around 30 animals survived the massacres, hidden in a valley in Yellowstone National Park. All the bison living there today are descended from this herd.
