In this old monastery in the middle of Lisbon, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, I had the chance to capture this beautiful Lusitano stallion. The historic setting with its typical Portuguese tiles, which I encountered all over Lisbon, exudes the country's rich culture. The spot between the columns offered a perfect composition, but it was a challenge to position the horse exactly so that everything came together. Until his attention was caught by something in the distance and he looked back in just the right way. That was the moment. With animals you have to be patient, but if you wait, you often get a reward you can't plan for.
This picture combines the beauty of a cremello Lusitano stallion, almost white in colour, with the elegance of Portuguese architecture. The image exudes calm, strength and tradition, a unique mix that will appeal to horse lovers and travellers alike.
This work is a wonderful addition to any interior. In a modern home, it makes an understated and stylish statement, while in a classic or country interior it blends perfectly into the warm atmosphere. Hang it in a living room as an eye-catcher, in a bedroom for a serene look, or in a hallway to welcome guests with a touch of culture and elegance. For anyone with a passion for horse photography or Portuguese history, this is a unique piece of art that knows how to inspire time and again.
