While walking through the Albaicín district of Granada, Spain, music and singing could be heard in the small streets. Zigzagging slowly we came up and heard the flamenco tones better and better. And suddenly, after a bend, we found ourselves in a little square. Nestled between a church and behind a wall we had a view over the valley and the Alhambra that we were looking down on from above. There we saw the guitarist; he was playing flamenco music and another man was singing along. Friends of theirs were dancing to the music. And for reasons unclear, there were few tourists for the fantastic view. It was the perfect spot. Lovely weather, a wall to sit on and a group of friends who were having fun and playing music more for themselves than for the people who stopped by. As if we had a glimpse into the ordinary lives of the Gitanos (gypsies) who live in Albaicín and Sacromonte. And were taken into the atmosphere of another life. And even when the guitar was put aside, it remained a lovely place.
