I am often curious. To painting materials, colours, shapes. While painting 'The Bridal Suite', I found the correct rendering of transparent white fabric a fun challenge. Getting that one shadow or that fine highlight right. And also discovering all the colours that appear in an apparently white subject. And so the idea for the image you see here was born: a high-key closeup of a female body. Soft shapes, colours and an overall light look. With a transparent white fabric, a pleat here and there reflecting some extra light. Subtle shadows with reds and purples. This is not an image for harsh contrasts, but a tantalisingly soft atmosphere.
