About ‘White Cliffs of Zakynthos - An Ode to Eternal Erosion’ by Dixy Kracht

This powerful composition depicts the majestic limestone cliffs of Zakynthos, rising from the deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea. The cliffs, in shades of ivory and sand, catch the sunlight and create a play of light and shadow that highlights the texture and depth of the rock. The contrast between the sharp vertical lines of the cliffs and the endless, calm horizon of sky and sea arouses a sense of nothingness as well as wonder.

The sky is bright blue, cloudless and clear, like an infinite dome above the timeless rocks. The sea below is calm, with gentle wave patterns licking along the base of the rock like brushstrokes. No human trace disturbs the image - just nature, rugged and sublime in its simplicity.
