About ‘Where the Sea Retreats’ by Robert Jan Smit

This photograph shows a hushed moment on the beach at Ouddorp in South Holland, captured during low tide when the water slowly retreats towards the North Sea. The image is characterised by soft lines, subtle contrasts and an almost minimalist composition that focuses on peace and space. The wet sand forms a fluid transition between sea and beach, while a small wave gently rolls out and redraws the boundary between water and land.
The retreating sea leaves its mark in the form of shiny structures and light reflections, which give the image depth and rhythm. In the distance, the horizon is wide and open, with subdued cloudy skies giving the coastal landscape a serene, timeless look. The low breakwater in the background acts as a subtle anchor point in the composition, recalling the constant interaction between man and nature along the Dutch coast.
This photo captures the character of Ouddorp in a subdued way: no rough surf, but rather the silence that occurs when the sea retreats for a moment. At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
