At the end of the concrete promenade towards France, you will find an architectural masterpiece that offers every visitor a magnificent view of the sea and dunes: the Westerpunt!
Westerpunt is a geometric, lazy staircase that takes you from the promenade upwards until you tower over the beach, only to take you further down to the lower beach or dike. It symbolically connects the sea with the dunes, nature with the coast, residents with each other.
Its unique location next to the dunes and the Westhoek reserve makes it a real attraction. The viewpoint will be realised entirely in concrete: a robust material which fits in nicely with the beach and dunes in terms of colour and structure and which can also withstand the aggressive maritime climate. A nice extra is that at spring tide, the entrance to the beach will be flooded by seawater.
