As an abstract art photographer, I am deeply fascinated by the ephemeral beauty of weathered materials. This work, titled Weathered Archers, shows a weathered, white wooden archer attached to a wall. The wooden planks are placed vertically and reinforced by horizontal and diagonal beams, creating an intriguing texture. The natural discolouration and wear of the wood reveal a rustic and authentic aesthetic.
What you see at work is a detailed representation of the marks that time and weather conditions have left on the wood. The surrounding white wall also shows signs of soiling and wear, adding to the overall aesthetic and depth of the image. My inspiration for Weathered Archers came from my fascination with the natural processes of weathering and decay, often found in old and abandoned structures. The influence of artists such as Aaron Siskind and Gerhard Richter is evident in my approach to capturing the texture and details of decay.
With this work, I try to set an atmosphere of calm and contemplation, inviting the viewer to dwell on the subtleties and stories that weathered materials have to tell. Weathered Archers is a reflection of my belief that there is beauty in impermanence and simplicity.
What makes this work special in an interior is its ability to create a calming, reflective atmosphere. It adds an element of rustic, abstract art that subtly enriches the space with rich textures and contrasts, making it a captivating and intriguing focal point.
