About ‘Weathered Beauty: Time and Texture in Abstraction’ by Hans Kwaspen

This abstract photographic work captures the essence of impermanence and the beauty of decay. The textures and colours in this photograph, ranging from rusty reds to weathered yellows and greens, tell a story of time and transformation. The weathered surfaces and subtle cracks in the material suggest a history slowly eroded by the elements, creating an intriguing pattern of natural weathering.

As an abstract art photographer, I am always fascinated by the way time and nature work together to create art in unexpected places. This photograph is a perfect example of how beauty can be found in the mundane and the neglected. The complex layers and rich textures invite the viewer to get closer and explore the details, creating a deeper appreciation for the subtle nuances of colour and form.

Similar artists such as Aaron Siskind and Minor White have also captured the beauty of texture and decay in their work. Siskind's photographs of weathered walls and surfaces and White's abstract approach to natural forms have both had a profound influence on my own work. By making this photograph, I hope to inspire viewers to see the world around them with new eyes and discover the hidden beauty in the everyday
