At first glance, the picture looks like an abstract painting in the colors beige, white and the various shades of blue. Although the colors fit together harmoniously, there is still a restless feeling when looking at it. The colors are jumbled and inaccurately blended. Some layers of the image, like in the lower right corner could almost represent a whirlwind. The golden/brown spots then fit in with this - the dust that is being swirled up.
On closer inspection, however, the eye is drawn to the darker blue tones in the center of the image. There are seemingly two faces depicted kissing each other throughout the swirl.
This is exactly the feeling I want to convey with this picture. Two people sharing a moment of intimate love despite the swirl and storm. They are literally drawn to each other by the structure of the image.
To create this restless and yet romantic mood, I first dabbed the background with a sponge and then went with a coarse large brush more and more in depth. To insert the small cracks that run through the painting, I applied a texture paste on the highlights of the imaginary image, which then tears as it dries. So then gradually with coarse brushes the blue tones were applied and blended with white for a few highlights.
This painting fits super in a bedroom or maybe even in the bathroom over the bathtub. Have fun with it! :):)
