Waves hit hard on the coast of southern Iceland at Stokksnes, not far from the famous mountain ridge Vestrahorn.
Close to the Nato station a stone's throw from the lighthouse, waves rolled towards the coast. A hard confrontation with the rocks could not be avoided. The high water hit the rocks hard and burst apart with an explosion.
An ever-recurring phenomenon, a spectacle from which it is difficult to escape.
The fascinating non-violent violence, is a feast for the eyes. It puts you in a trance, a kind of hypnotic effect that can make a moment last an eternity.
By using a slightly slower shutter speed, there is just a little more dynamic in the image.
An image in which there is always more to discover. An exhilarating as well as a calming piece of nature. A strange combination of both a wintry sun, blue sky, an almost complete lull, but at the same time the waves driven by immense forces, brought an atmosphere of unreality.
