About the artwork
Silver-grey reflections on the sandy beach and subtle waves on the Mediterranean coast in Spain. This symmetrical composition is dedicated to the calm ambience by the sea and the meditative effect of the flowing water.
When walking along the sandy beaches in Calpe, I often enjoy the sound of the sea and feel the soft sand on the soles of my feet. I am particularly fascinated by the gentle waves that keep emerging and moving towards the coast.
The surface of the water reflects the cloudy sky and appears in subtle shades of grey. When searching for motifs, I am inspired by the wavy structures of the sea water, the reflections on the water surface and in the wet sand, as well as special lighting moods. Even in stormy and cloudy weather conditions, I think the subtle colors and reflections can be very enchanting.
A light wind is blowing. The sea whispers. Dark-grey storm clouds are slowly approaching, making the image appear almost monochrome. This composition is inspired by the interplay of light and shadow, but also by being in this very moment. Flowing Water meets sandy beach.
Based on the original photo, I experimented with the effects of reflection and symmetry to emphasize the abstract effect of the water.
