About "Water dispenser"

by Gerhard Höberth

About the artwork

In this work, nature and architecture merge in an unusual way. A collection of vessels of different sizes and shapes hangs on a Mediterranean house wall and is surrounded by lush greenery. It almost seems as if the vessels are alive and part of the plants that twine around them. The scene tells of a past when collecting and storing water was a necessity to survive in hot, dry climates. The vessels are witnesses to this ancient tradition and remind us of the importance of remembering our roots and protecting our environment. But the artwork offers another layer of meaning. The vessels seem to give water and thus become a symbol of generosity and care. They remind us of the importance of looking out for and supporting each other, especially in times of need. The work "Water Dispenser" is thus not only an aesthetic representation of a southern house, but also tells a story of humanity and community. It invites the viewer to travel back in time and rediscover the importance of water and cohesion.
