This was my first digital adaptation of an anonymous thrift store painting. You know them, often moderately painted Dutch landscapes (heather, forest, water, farmhouse, church tower etc) that lie around gathering dust in the thrift store.
In this (first) case I added a spectator and a DC3, creating a melancholic atmosphere. The "spectator" came from a photo of a meeting I once attended and I later used it in a number of other works. The Dakota has also returned regularly in my work
A fine classical painting brought into the 21st century. A little bridge, a farmhouse, sunset and a plane from WWII. And a viewer without whom it all would not have been seen.
Although working as a lyrical chronicler, sometimes I see things that are not there; I photograph and edit them.
Recurring elements are: carved mannequins (humanoids) and anonymous 19th century paintings. Working from 100cm I come to sign (Nl only)...
